One Clinical Training Experience — Three Certification Pathways

This 5-day Clinical Training program applies to all three World Trichology Society certification tracks:

  • World Trichology Society Trichology Certification Course
  • World Trichology Academy Trichology Certification Course
  • Trichology Certification for Medical Professionals

All students participate in the same structured clinical curriculum.

Only the eligibility requirements differ between programs.

  • Virtual Clinical Training: Complete academic curriculum must be successfully completed.
  • In-Person Clinical Training — WTS: Academic curriculum must be completed up to and including Module X.
  • In-Person Clinical Training — WTA: Academic curriculum must be completed up to and including CT206.
  • Virtual Clinical Training — Medical Professionals: Complete academic curriculum must be successfully completed.

Alternative Option for Medical Professionals

Overview of the Clinical Training

This hands-on Clinical Training bridges academic study with real-world trichological practice. Students learn to conduct comprehensive consultations, interpret patient presentations, identify contributing factors to hair and scalp disorders, and create appropriate treatment strategies. The training emphasizes clinical judgment, assessment skills, practical decision-making, and professional communication.

5-Day Clinical Training Structure

Each day combines theory, supervised clinical work, and practical application. The structure is the same for all certification pathways.

DAY 1 — Foundations of Clinical Trichology

Day 1 establishes the essential scientific and clinical knowledge that underpins trichological practice. Students review key academic concepts and learn how to apply them in a clinical environment.

  • Hair structure & fiber biology
  • Hair-growth cycle
  • Academic curriculum review
  • Principles of consultation
  • Hair-loss consultation procedure
  • Causes of hair loss (including the “7 H’s of Hair Loss”)
  • Male & female pattern hair loss
  • Telogen effluvium, alopecia areata, cicatricial alopecias

DAY 2 — Clinical Application & Practical Methods

Day 2 focuses on real-world application. Students work with products, tools, and diagnostic equipment, learning how these support accurate assessments and effective treatments.

  • Cosmetic & psychosocial aspects
  • Traction alopecia
  • Hair & scalp treatment protocols
  • Product function & indications
  • Equipment use (trichoscope, microscope)
  • Complex case consultations
  • Laboratory testing & relevant blood panels
  • Clinic setup & workflow
  • Hygiene & infection control
  • Referral pathways

DAY 3 — Patient Assessment & Scalp Pathophysiology

Day 3 trains students to observe and interpret clinical presentations. The focus is on scalp conditions, physiology, and the role of nutrition.

  • Observation of patient assessments
  • Skin physiology & trichology
  • Scalp disorders (psoriasis, seborrheic dermatitis, pityriasis simplex)
  • Consultation procedure for non–hair-loss conditions
  • Nutrition & hair health (diet, protein, supplements)

DAY 4 — Advanced Consultations, Psychology & Practice Development

Day 4 deepens clinical reasoning and integrates psychological factors. Students also learn communication skills and ethical business strategies.

  • Trichotillomania & body dysmorphia
  • Communication & expectation management
  • Ethical sales approaches
  • Marketing strategies for trichology practices

DAY 5 — Student Consultations & Final Assessment

Day 5 consolidates all learning through supervised consultations and final evaluation to ensure clinical readiness.
